31 Days of Spontaneous Organizing - Day #28: Office/Desk Drawer

Today is Day #28 of 31 days of spontaneous organizing! Your mini-challenge for today is to work on one {or two} desk drawers in your home office or wherever you have set up to work on things. If you have no office, that doesn't let you off the hook. You can still clean up another drawer in your home!

Here are a couple of ideas and tips for when you organize your desk drawer. First off, even if you only have a portable office, you undoubtedly need to clean it up from time to time. You need to have an area somewhere in your home for filing your appliance manuals, receipts, or other important papers. If you file in a binder, go through that and clean up and label anything important. If it's a messy drawer, take out the drawer {if possible} and throw out any broken things, paper/trash, and relocate them.

You can see here that I basically just cleared it out and set things in the drawer. It works well and I can see everything.

I also use small ramekin-type bowls to organize my smaller supplies in my desk drawer.

I have to be honest, I hate filing. It's one of my least favorite things to do, but I have to do it. Someday I'll tackle having it all color coordinated and pretty, but for now, this is how it looks. It's fine and it's labeled clearly. Don't get too caught up, especially right now, in a certain "look". Your goal for now is to make it clutter-free, organized, and functional.

If you don't have an office, I have a "portable" office that will give you ideas of how to make an "office" just out of a few things you may already have.
